About the 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games Athletes’ Village
For eight weeks in the summer of 2015, a portion of the West Don Lands served as home to approximately 10,000 athletes and officials participating in the 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games in Toronto.
The need to house Games participants helped accelerate Waterfront Toronto’s award-winning redevelopment plans to transform this former derelict industrial area into a 21st Century highly livable neighbourhood. The buildings developed as part of this project include the George Brown College student residence, two affordable rental housing properties, the Canary District and Canary Park condominiums, and a new YMCA Centre of Community.
While the full community is not yet complete, the vision for the West Don Lands is truly coming to life – a beautiful, sustainable, mixed-use neighbourhood where everyone is welcome.
