Why this is a great design
Great Gulf assembled an esteemed and talented design team for the Monde Condominiums project. Led by world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie, Monde’s striking design reimagines waterfront living with a balance of great architecture and nature. It is the first residential project by Moshe Safdie in Canada since his landmark Habitat ’67 in Montreal.
This premiere residential and commercial landmark embodies a “gardens in the sky” vision – with plant-covered roofs, stepped gardens that create green space on virtually every floor and a stunning six-storey atrium overlooking neighbouring Sherbourne Common.
The development, comprised of a 44-storey tower and 9-storey podium, will achieve a delicate balance between translucent white glass and concrete and limestone pavers, punctuated with cantilevered and flush balconies – giving each unit a generous amount of light.
The distinguished design team also includes Quadrangle Architects, Janet Rosenberg + Associates for landscape architecture and Cecconi Simone for interior design.
Monde was recognized with a 2012 BILD Award for Best High-Rise Building Design.
